Cookie policy – Nzinstantbanking
An information site about betting payments needs no payment cookies, because Nzinstantbanking takes no money and runs no checkout. What it does use is a short list of technical tools, set out below with their purposes and the ways to refuse or change them. A cookie is a small text file stored by a browser; local and session storage entries and counting pixels act in a similar way.
Applicable law
The Privacy Act 2020 applies where cookies and comparable tools collect personal information, through its information privacy principles (section 22). A lawful purpose connected to running the site justifies collection (IPP 1), and people are told what is collected and why (IPP 3). Reasonable security safeguards apply (IPP 5), information is retained no longer than needed (IPP 9), and disclosure outside New Zealand follows IPP 12. A banner choice stays changeable at all times.
Necessary files
Reliable operation depends on these: they keep sessions, spread load between servers, guard forms from abuse and remember the banner answer. They are set without a separate choice. Session files end when the browser closes, and the remembered answer lasts at most twelve months.
Functional and analytics files
Functional files recall settings such as the last table opened, and analytics files count page views and show which pages are read. Only an answer in the banner switches them on. IP addresses are shortened for analysis, and no profile follows behaviour across different sites.
Outside services
Embedded outside material, such as video or maps, can set its own files, and that provider’s rules then also apply; objections go to the provider. Nzinstantbanking does not set advertising cookies for personalised ads without a clear banner choice.
Refusal and change
The "Cookie settings" link in the footer allows a choice to be changed or withdrawn whenever wanted, with effect for the future. Browsers independently let users block or delete cookies. After the necessary files are removed the banner reappears, and some features may stop for a short while.
Complaints
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner receives complaints about how personal information is handled. The privacy policy of this site gives the details of that handling.
